If it’s your first dental check-up at our clinic, we will discuss both your medical and dental health before carrying out an examination of your mouth and teeth. Once the examination is over, we move onto the second stage – dental cleaning. Our Panania dentist uses an ultrasonic cleaning tool to remove any hardened plaque and tartar from the gum line and in between the teeth. If this isn’t removed, it can cause the gums to bleed or become infected and this, in turn, may lead to another common problem in general dentistry – gum disease.
Then, your teeth are polished with a slightly abrasive paste and a high-powered electric brush. It’s the best way to get a deep clean and also remove any lingering traces of tartar. Last, a highly concentrated fluoride gel is applied to your teeth to develop, strengthen and revitalize the tooth enamel and reduce sensitivity. The result is a sparkling smile and a fresh minty breath.
